Traditional Korean First Birthday Doljabi Cake Recipe
Try this traditional Korean rice cake recipe; also known as "Chapssal-tteok".

Ingredients:
2 cups of sweet rice flour (also known as glutinous rice flour)
2 cups of water
1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Vegetable oil (for greasing)
Soybean powder or sesame seeds (for coating)
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine sweet rice flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring constantly until the batter becomes smooth and free of lumps.
Transfer the mixture to a non-stick saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the batter thickens and becomes sticky.
Remove the saucepan from the at and let it cool down slightly.
Lightly grease a flat plate or tray with vegetable oil to prevent the rice cake from sticking.
Using wet hands, shape the rice cake into a ball, flatten it out slightly, and place it onto the greased plate or tray.
Repeat the shaping process with the remaining batter.
Coat each rice cake with soybean powder or sesame seeds. You can do this by placing the powder or seeds onto a separate plate and rolling the rice cake in it until fully coated.
Cut the rice cake into small bite-sized pieces and serve.
